In the third week of the COPA v Wright trial at the Rolls Building in London, in February 2024, the court was shown animations built from edit logs in Craig Wright’s own disclosure, showing changes being made to the bitcoin whitepaper. Asked by Alex Gunning KC, “If you were forging the whitepaper, that is how you would do it, isn’t it?”, Wright replied “Yes”. He said the edits were a demonstration for his lawyers at Shoosmiths.
Jonathan Hough KC, for COPA, rejected Wright’s explanation for inaccuracies in MYOB accounting records and accused him of presenting a “pack of lies”. The court also heard about alterations to LaTeX files and disputed Abacus emails and Tulip Trading evidence. Witnesses included Zooko Wilcox-O’Hearn, Marti Malmi, who said his contact with Satoshi began in May 2009 rather than February, as Wright claimed, and Adam Back. Wright also accused Christen Ager-Hanssen of working with COPA.
