Eugene Jarecki’s documentary The Six Billion Dollar Man, about Julian Assange and WikiLeaks, premiered at Cannes and won the inaugural Golden Globe Prize for Documentary. Jarecki says major streaming platforms praised the film privately before declining to show it.
With backing from Jack Dorsey, the film instead planned a global online screening paid for in bitcoin and distributed through Nostr. Speaking at BTC Prague, Jarecki linked financial sovereignty with freedom of information.
