The Converging Interest Between Psychedelic Therapy And Bitcoin

Some in the bitcoin community see a connection between psychedelic research and bitcoin, and trace both to decisions taken in the US under President Nixon: the Controlled Substances Act of 1970, which classified psychedelics as Schedule I drugs, and the end of the dollar’s link to gold in 1971. Maxx Mannheimer, a bitcoiner and holotropic philosopher, argues that both decisions severed important connections, and links mental health problems with rising debt.

Shane Hazel, a former Force Recon Marine, describes how psychedelic therapy helped him manage PTSD and how bitcoin changed his view of debt-based money and war. Tom Taber of Montana Sagrada says both encourage self-discovery and responsibility. Mannheimer also cautions that psychedelics are not a panacea, are not suitable for everyone and need to be treated with respect.
