The second Bitcoin FilmFest in Warsaw coincided with the April 2024 bitcoin halving at block 840,000 and was held as a European Halving Party. Dirty Coin, a documentary about bitcoin mining using stranded and wasted energy to build renewable infrastructure, won Best Movie and premiered on the day of the halving. Searching For Satoshi, about the mystery of bitcoin’s creator, won the Short Story Award, and the festival ended with a tribute to Len Sassaman.
MadMunky of the 2140 Art Collective spoke about using art to teach people about bitcoin, and Roger 9000 ran a workshop combining chocolate-making with bitcoin. Other sessions compared bitcoin with psychedelics as tools that challenge established systems. A teaser was shown for After It’s Said by Ace & Sed, a documentary on the internet, language and human rights then due for release in December 2024.
