The Bitcoin Atlantis conference, held in Madeira from 1 to 3 March 2024, brought together more than 120 speakers and 5,000 participants in an open-air football stadium. Speakers included Jack Dorsey, Michael Saylor, Jack Mallers and Jeff Booth, and Madeira’s representatives said the region was offering tax incentives to bitcoin investors and businesses.
Themes included mining projects that bring power to remote communities, such as Gridless in Africa, and the development of Nostr with bitcoin as its native currency. A mining section organised by Troy Cross discussed the industry’s challenges as well as its benefits. The event also had a children’s area, workshops from LNbits and BTC Sessions, and a strong line-up of women speakers. The article credits André Loja as the conference’s organiser.
