BTC Prague 2024, one of Europe’s most influential bitcoin-only events, brought discussions of financial freedom to a city with a communist past. A gathering hosted by Les Femmes Orange, a community promoting women’s participation in bitcoin, drew more than 100 women, and Nostr had a dedicated stand. Cypherpunk Erik Cason urged the audience to build ventures while embracing the struggle, and Michelle Weekly spoke about the corruption enabled by fiat systems.
A panel on onboarding the next billion people discussed simplifying adoption, with Calle noting that bitcoin lets people own a part of the network. Speakers from Mi Primer Bitcoin, Get Based and Bitcoin Roatan Centre discussed education and the damage done by scams. Sam Taber of Bit Digital said no other sector is scrutinised like bitcoin miners, and Adam Back recalled that cypherpunks saw the privacy of cash being lost online.
