Paystand.org, the non-commercial arm of payments company Paystand, supports bitcoin-based community projects in El Salvador and South America. Led by Chief Impact Officer Alexandra Navarro and Paystand CEO Jeremy Almond, it works with partners including Motiv, a non-profit based in Peru, and Mi Primer Bitcoin, which by 2024 had reached more than 30,000 young people across 18 countries with financial education.
In El Salvador, the Hope House project at Bitcoin Beach combined education, recreation and community support, funded through bitcoin donations. Jorge Valenzuela and Luis Morales of Hope House said the project began with fiat currency but attracted more support after switching to bitcoin. Almond described the aim as nurturing ecosystems where bitcoin supports growth, education and inclusion, and the organisation planned to replicate these models in other regions.
